How I Edit My Photos For Instagram
Recently I shared my favourite apps for Instagram, and today I'm back to tell you about how I edit a photo for Instagram (largely because I love reading other people's versions of these!)
Let's get to it...
I use VSCO only when it comes to editing my Insta shots, and I have signed up for VSCO X. This upgrade includes the addition of filter effects that were designed to mimic a number of real film to the phone app, and I use the filter Kodak Portra 800 pretty much exclusively. (Prior to this, 05 was my jam.)
I used to be quite shy amount the strength of the filters I would apply, but lately I've been going all out and setting the strength to the maximum of 12. You can also play with the Character and Warmth of each of the VSCO X film filters, but most of the time I leave these alone.
Next, I add a little Sharpness (no more than about 4 usually) as I really like VSCO's sharpness tool – it's definitely one of the best I have come across in editing apps. I then move on to Tint, adding a little more of a purple hue to the shot; this just makes it pretty to my eye, and helps with the cohesiveness of my "gallery" as a whole.
Last off I play with the Fade (again, it just makes pictures look right to my eye) and usually keep it to around 4, depending on the contrast in the image. I hit Save and then I am done!
Are you guys VSCO fans, or not? I would love to know which filters are your favourites and what your editing tips are!
