15 ways to use your brand photography

…and today I’m telling you all about how to get the most out of your brand photography!

So often, I think that clients feel they have a brand shoot for their social media imagery, but really, there is SO much you can do with brand photography if you’re ready to be brave with it!

Feel free to use this as a master checklist to help you get the most from your brand photography… Let’s get to it!

1. Change all your social media profile photos!

I personally like to use either the exact same headshot for mine, or I love the idea of different ones from the same setting within a shoot.

2. Change your email profile pic

Go for a pic that folks will see when they drop you a line (it took me too long to work this out on Gmail for businesses!).

3. Add your photo to your email footer

I used Canva to make a super simple design, saved it as a PNG, and boom, all my emails look fabulous!

4. Spice up some of your social media posts with Canva

You can create graphics that use your photography in exciting ways alongside any classic photo posts!

5. Create Instagram carousels to highlight your knowledge!

Again, Canva is a gift. Use your images to add interest to informative carousels, educating your clients about an area of your expertise or a stage in your process!

6. Always include a photo of you in your email newsletter

I like to sign off saying “With love, Anna” next to a photo of me and a little bio of what I’m all about. I recently saw Josephine Brooks talking about the importance of having a little “About Me” at the bottom of your emails, given that sometimes folks just forget they’ve signed up to your list! So super handy.

7. Switch up your website photography seasonally

It’s amazing how jarring short sleeves are in the dead of winter! Try and use photography that speaks to the quarter you’re in; I’d aim to change up your photos either monthly or quarterly.

8. Use your photography to help pitch for magazine features

Make sure to ask your photographer’s permission first, but having some amazing photography ready to go is a fantastic thing for a magazine editor to see next to your pitch piece. I’ve helped my own clients get published because I emailed an editor with a couple of example shots from their session.

9. Create “welcome guides” for new customers and include plenty of your photography

I’ve got a portrait guide that I send to every client and a 1:1 prep PDF for my mentoring sessions, and including photos of you will help them feel connected and reassured ahead of working together.

10. Create a pricing guide if you don’t share your pricing on your website

I’ve chatted about the ins and outs of not sharing your pricing here, but if you email a quote to clients, again, use your photography to level up their experience with a gorgeous PDF document.

11. Make some “thank you” cards with your brand imagery

I love sending notes to welcome or thank clients, and on my to-do list is to make some cards on Canva and get them printed to start every client's journey. You can use a not-you image from your shoot if seeing your face on a card freaks you out!

12. Turn your photos into Reels/TikToks

Instagram’s “templates” function on Reels makes them SO much easier to create! Lots of folks don’t like to show up on video, myself included, so creating effectively a slideshow with some trending audio is a fantastic alternative. I use templates all the time so feel free to reuse mine!

13. Make your business cards pop

…through photography; some companies let you upload multiple versions in the same order, which is so handy.

14. Print your images and hang them in your workspace

I think this is an especially great idea for shops: print out the step-by-step of wrapping an order and hang the shots behind the till to highlight that you offer gift wrapping! (Big love to Century General Store for this idea)

15. Freshen up some old blog posts

Want people to fall in love with a piece of content that you poured your heart into? Update the photos! Go back to your blog feed and nix any stock photography or images that feel out of date. It’s a great way to get people scrolling, sometimes without realising it’s a post they’ve seen before!
